CHRISTMAS 2004, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005!
Our family can now say that we know what a Michigan winter is like, and we can describe it in one word, COOOOOLD! Aside from the cold winters, we have loved everything about our move to Michigan.

In June HAILEY had her first birthday, complete with balloons, party hats and cake. Hailey also took her first steps this year and has learned her first words. These include ruf-ruf, what’s that?, happy, momma, da-da, bye-bye and the hand sign for “more.” She loves to play with her toy kitchen, swing outside on the swing set, go down her slide face first, and say ruf-ruf to any animal that moves. She also loves to sing, look at herself in the mirror and give strangers an evil look. She’s one smart cookie!

JULIE completed one year of being a stay-at-home mom. She thought she would go crazy, but to prevent this Julie took Hailey to lots of play-groups and lunch dates with friends from church and the neighborhood. Julie also found time to sew, sing, scrapbook and work on home improvement projects. In April, Julie spoke at a national mathematics education conference in Philadelphia and hopes to someday publish an article.

Last year at this time JON was relaxing after racing to finish his Master’s thesis. This year he has enjoyed being out of school. He works as an Electrical Design Eengineer for Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems designing wiring harnesses for Toyota vehicles. He has enjoyed learning how much goes into the development of the electrical system in a vehicle and surprising the Japanese when a blonde American can understand them when they speak behind his back. This fall Jon insulated, put up dry wall, and painted the garage. Hailey enjoyed finger painting in the wet drywall compound as shown in the photo to the right. Currently he is creating a workshop in the garage to fulfill his woodworking dreams. After he finishes that he will continue to work on the laundry room, where he has already put in cabinets and a countertop. He wonders if the work will ever end!

Our family feels extremely blessed as we reflect on this past year. We see the hand of God in our lives, and join with the rest of the world to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
